Coaching in Cleburne County: The Real Win of Our Season

Getting to coach these girls again this season here in Cleburne County was such a gift. As I look back, I can’t help but smile at what an incredible season we had together. Now let me be honest for a second… I am very competitive. Like, I absolutely wanted to win every single game. Badly. 😂 I love to compete, I love to strategize, and yes—I love to see that scoreboard in our favor. But somewhere between the hustle, the laughs, and those timeouts that turned into mini life talks, I realized something even better was happening right in front of me.

The Real Wins This Season

Every single girl improved.

  • Shots got stronger.
  • Defense got tougher.
  • Confidence got louder.

Girls who were nervous at the start of the season were calling for the ball by the end. Girls who once hung back were suddenly diving right into the game without hesitation.Watching that transformation—their courage, their joy, their belief in themselves—felt like the biggest win of all.

Cleburne County truly has some amazing young ladies coming up, and I am so proud of each one of them.

A Sweet Surprise from a Sweet Player

I also have to share my favorite gift of the season. One of my sweet players gave me the coolest basketball mug. And listen, that mug will NOT just be used for drinks. It is officially my forever hot cocoa and popcorn container. 🏀 (If you know, you know!)

More Than a Scoreboard

Wins are fun (and yes, Coach Lindsey definitely wanted them all ), but the real championship this season wasn’t about trophies or records.

It was about:

  • Watching these girls grow
  • Seeing them believe in themselves
  • Watching them cheer each other on
  • And seeing them have fun together

That’s the kind of victory that lasts long after the season ends.
