Winter Break in Carroll County GA: Easy At-Home Ideas for Families

Heads up, friends! 👋

If you’ve got kiddos in Carroll County or Bremen City Schools, mark your calendar—Winter Break runs from Monday, Feb 16 through Friday, Feb 20 this year!

That means a full week of slower mornings, snack requests, and all the “I’m bored” declarations on repeat.

And let’s be honest… with these warmer-than-usual temps, winter break is feeling a whole lot more like spring break showed up early. I’m already seeing shorts, open windows, and kids asking if they can ride bikes before breakfast. 😅

Even if your kids aren’t in those systems, you probably know someone who’s home with a houseful next week… and might be looking for creative ways to pass the time (without losing their ever-loving minds).

So, I wanted to share a few of my favorite winter break ideas that don’t require fancy trips or Pinterest-level prep—just a little imagination and maybe a roll of paper towels:

🧁 Chopped: Kids’ Snack Edition

Pick three random pantry items and let the kids create their best (or weirdest) treat. Bonus points for a dramatic presentation!

📞 Interview-a-Relative Game

Give the kids some sweet or silly questions and have them call Grandma, Uncle Mike, or an older cousin. You never know what stories will come up.

❄️ Indoor Snowball Fight

No snow? No problem. Use cotton balls, crumpled paper, or soft toys. Add ski goggles or oven mitts for extra flair.

🔦 Hallway Campout

Flashlights, sleeping bags, and a good ghost story—or a snack picnic. Instant memories.

Breaks like these are a great excuse to hit pause, get a little silly, and maybe even discover a new family tradition—whether it feels like winter or spring outside. So if you’re planning ahead for the week—or just want to tuck away some boredom busters—feel free to steal these!
